Umberto Ferraro Petrillo is Associate Professor at University of Rome - "La Sapienza".
He is currently Director of the TeraStat 2 supercomputing facility at Dipartimento di Scienze Statistiche - University of Rome 'La Sapienza'.
He is also serving as Associate Editor for BMC Bioinformatics and Springer Journal of Supercomputing
He got his Laurea (M.Sc. equivalent) cum laude in Computer Science in 1997 and his PhD in Computer Science in 2002 from the University of Salerno. He has been a Post-Doctoral fellow at the University of Salerno, in Rome at the Institute for Industrial Technologies and Application (Italian National Research Council), at the University of Rome - "La Sapienza" and at University of Rome - "Tor Vergata". He has been a visiting fellow at School of Interactive Computing - Georgia Tech University, Fall 2015.
His research includes bioinformatics, distributed systems, algorithm engineering and network security.
